Create a rule to prevent send to Outside in Exchange 2010

1. Prepare

– DC1 : Domain Controller (pns.vn) | DC2 : Exchange server | WIN71 : Client

2. Step by step : Create a rule to prevent send to Outside

– DC2 : Create a group mail named Group.Outsource :

+ Start – Exchange Management Console – Recipient Configuration – Right-click ‘Distribution Group’ – New Distribution Group… – Choose ‘New group’ :

+ Group type : Security + Tick ‘Specify an Oranizational…’ – Browse… – Choose Outsource OU

+ Name : Group.Outsource + Alias : Group.Outsource – New – Finish

– DC1 : Add member for Group.Outsource

+ Start – Administrative Tools – Active Directory Users and Computers – pns.vn – Outsource OU – Add Hiep.Outsource;Viet.Outsource to member of Group.Outsource

– DC2 : Create a rule to prevent send to Outside for Group.Outsource

+ Start – Exchange Management Console – Organization Configuration – Hub Transport – Transport Rules – Right-click – New Transport Rule… :

+ Name : Prevent send to outside – Comment : Prevent send to outside

+ Conditions – Select ‘sent to users that are inside or outside the organization, or partners’ – Click ‘Inside the organization’ – Scope : Outside the organization

+ Select ‘from a member of distribution list’ – Click ‘distribution list’ – Add… : Group.Outsource

+ Action – Select ‘send rejection message to sender with enhanced status code’

– Click ‘rejection message’ : You can not send to outside ! ; Click ‘enhanced status code’ : 5.7.1 – New – Finish

– WIN71 : Logon using Hiep.Outsource (member of Group.Outsource), access email :

+ Send an email to outside === Fail === Message ‘You can not send to outside !’
